Care and Maintenance of Instruments
Initial Cleaning: Before the first sterilization, clean and lubricate new instruments such as the Scissors Operate – 16.5cm S/S.
After Use: Disinfect, clean, lubricate, and sterilize instruments as soon as possible after each use.
Disinfection:
Disinfect instruments using chemo-thermal, thermal, or by immersing them in a combined disinfecting and cleaning solution.
Delicate instruments can be cleaned using ultrasonic cleaning.
Rinsing: After cleaning, rinse the instruments thoroughly, preferably using demineralized water.
Drying: Ensure that the instruments are thoroughly dried after rinsing.
Lubrication: Apply a lubricating agent based on paraffin oil to instruments with joints, ratchets, or threads.
Sterilization:
Always follow the manufacturer’s sterilization instructions.
Before sterilization, only close the first ratchet on instruments.
Autoclaving: Autoclave instruments using saturated water steam at a temperature of 134°C.
Hot-Air Sterilization: For hot-air sterilization, set the temperature between 180°C and 200°C.
Corrosion: Discard any corroded instruments immediately, as they may compromise surgical safety and performance.
