The iPad SP1 Adult Electrodes, also known as SMART pads, are adaptable for both adults and children without needing additional equipment or electrodes. Simply switch the defibrillator to the adult or child setting based on the patient’s age. For children aged 1 to 8 years, the pediatric mode should be used.

Once connected, the defibrillator will analyze the patient’s heart rhythm to determine if treatment is needed. When in child mode, it automatically reduces the joule output to a safe level.
